Day 2: Into the Valleys – Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass

After breakfast, drive to Punakha, Bhutan’s ancient capital. On the way, stop at the Dochula Pass (3,100m), where 108 chortens stand in remembrance of Bhutanese soldiers who perished in a 2003 military operation. On a clear day, enjoy panoramic views of the eastern Himalayas.

Day 3: Cultural Crossroads – Punakha to Paro via Chhimi Lhakhang

Today begins with a peaceful 20-minute walk through lush rice fields to Chhimi Lhakhang, a small but powerful fertility temple dedicated to the eccentric saint Drukpa Kunley, known as the Divine Madman.

Day 4: The Ultimate Pilgrimage – Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Today is the highlight of your Bhutan journey — the hike to the legendary Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest. Perched dramatically on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley, this sacred site marks the spot where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated after flying in on a tigress.

The trek takes about 1–2 hours to reach the cafeteria viewpoint, offering breathtaking vistas of the monastery and valley below. After a rewarding hike and lunch, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, built in the 7th century — a serene and spiritually significant site to reflect on your journey.
